Here are some of our favorite engagement session locations near Troy, Missouri, that promise beautiful memories and breathtaking photos.
1 – Cuivre River State Park

Just a short drive from Troy, Cuivre River State Park is one of the most popular outdoor locations in the area for engagement sessions. This vast park offers everything from serene woodlands to tranquil lakes, giving couples plenty of options for creating unique and romantic photo opportunities. Imagine strolling hand-in-hand along the peaceful trails, surrounded by lush greenery, or posing by the shimmering waters of the park’s lake. During the fall, the park transforms into a vibrant display of autumn colors, making it an especially beautiful spot for seasonal photos.
2 – Main St in Troy

If you’re looking for a more rustic or vintage vibe for your engagement photos, Old Town Troy is the perfect location. With its quaint shops, historic buildings, and charming streets, this area offers a unique mix of old-world charm and small-town character. The local architecture, coupled with the ambiance of this picturesque town, creates the perfect backdrop for intimate, cozy photos. Whether you’re taking photos near a vintage brick building or strolling through a tree-lined street, Old Town Troy offers a lot of character and warmth for your engagement session.
3 – Indian Camp Creek Park

Indian Camp Creek Park, located in Foristell, Missouri, is a beautiful 1,800-acre park offering a mix of natural landscapes and recreational amenities. The park features wooded areas, scenic trails, and open fields, making it a perfect spot for hiking, birdwatching, and picnicking. Some of our favorite sessions at the park have been our creek stomp minis (which we offer all season). But the possibilities here are almost endless for engagement photos or couples sessions.
4 – St Charles Historic District

While not immediately near Troy, the St. Charles Historic District is just a short drive away and well worth the trip for couples looking for a more urban touch. The cobblestone streets, quaint shops, and beautiful riverside views provide a romantic, charming setting for engagement sessions. St. Charles offers a mix of old-world charm and modern amenities, creating a unique backdrop for couples who want a little variety in their engagement photos.
The versatility of this area is pretty unmatched! During the colder months you can expect beautiful hints of the holiday season (some lights at night), and during the warmer months it is full of life. Going back to those shops I just mentioned, you could share an ice cream from Kilwin’s or Riverside Treats, visit one of the many coffee shops or unique book stores, and more!
5 – Winfield Lock and Dam

The Winfield Lock and Dam, located in Winfield, Missouri, offers a stunning backdrop for any photo session, especially for couples looking for a unique and scenic engagement shoot. Situated along the Mississippi River, the lock and dam feature impressive views of the water and surrounding nature, providing a dramatic yet tranquil setting for romantic photos. The area around the dam includes scenic overlooks and riverbanks, perfect for capturing intimate moments with a peaceful, waterfront vibe.
One of our couple’s actually has a bit of land (somewhere straight ahead in this picture) where we did their engagement session. We even got in the water for some super fun shots!
Conclusion
Engagement photos are a small yet super important part of your wedding experience – it may be the first time you really get to interact with your photographer (see them in action, learn their posing and direction style, etc.). You can also use it as a date night. A lot of our clients will plan out the rest of their night – and sometimes even have us tag along for the first little bit to capture some candid moments. Just like your wedding day, your engagement photos are YOURS and only yours. So make them what you want them to be!
Added Bonus: If you’re up to drive a bit further, we definitely recommend Klondike Park or Forest Park. These are two super versatile, super popular options!
