Introduction

Like every other year, 2023 has flown by! Not to say every moment wasn’t savored, taken in at it’s fullest, and captured (get it because I’m a photographer)… time just flies, especially when you’re have fun.

Before we begin the new year, let’s take a moment to look back at what made 2023 a year to remember, and what’s in store for the future here at Royal Photos, your professional wedding & elopement, sports, and portrait photographer based out of Troy, Missouri!

The Ups & Downs Of Business Ownership

Moving to Missouri was definitely a good but drastic change! Since then we’ve been slowly working to rebuild our brand in the state and grow our local network. A few months into being here our website crashed, we’ve been locked out of our social medias, and anything else you could possibly think of. So we essentially restarted from nothing only a short five to seven months ago. This year has involved way more behind the scenes work than behind the camera work for me personally, but that’s what owning a business is all about.

Weddings & Elopements in 2023

As our main niche as a photo and video company, I’m more than excited to say we did 10+ weddings this – that’s DOUBLE DIGITS! That means we were able to document the unique stories of over 10 couples from all over the United States, mostly in North Carolina and Missouri. And to make things even better, over 30% of our 2023 clients were same-sex and LGBTQ+ couples! I’m so thankful for the support and trust put in our company by each and every one of our amazing couples.

While these numbers are awesome, I’m excited for the 2024/2025 calendar and all the beautiful stories to come!

Sports in 2023

It wasn’t a big year for us in sports, but we still definitely got to cover some awesome events! Back in North Carolina we got the opportunity to cover the varsity basketball season. After I moved out to Missouri I partnered with the STL Clydesdales First Responders Baseball Team to provide photo coverage, covered a charity golf tournament for the local Habitat for Humanity, and even covered a competitive shooting event for the Wentzville PD. Here’s a few highlights from our year in sports:

Headshots & Portraits in 2023

The first of the year didn’t yield much portrait work, besides some TFP sessions with a few models I know. Once I got to Missouri I did headshots for Belleza Salon in O’Fallon, booked senior sessions in Lincoln and St Charles County, and was able to get in a few engagement sessions all over the St Louis area.

Conclusion

This year has been a bit crazy, to say the least. It was full of amazing moments with many amazing people – and more growth than I ever could’ve expected! But there are no plans to stop there. We’ve been planning for 2024 for months now and have tons of new things under wraps for the new year. To get a peek inside at what 2024 has to offer at Royal Photos, click the button below!
